Jarratt Applewhite is running as an independent candidate for New Mexico House District 50 "to give voters an alternative to the dysfunctional two-party system that is degrading our democracy."
Jarratt has lived in New Mexico for over 50 years and his career has included time as a veterinarian, horseshoer, small business owner, and non-profit leader.
Jarratt has served on the board of a dozen nonprofits with interests ranging from child welfare to economic development. He has served elected on Santa Fe’s Board of Education, co-chaired a mayoral task-force on affordable housing and appointed by State Public Education Department to co-chair a task force on accountability.
Jarratt lives in Lamy with his wife, with whom he has raised three adult children.
